On May 11-13, the 6th National Academic Conference on Ionic Liquids and Green Processes, with the theme of "Creating Green Technology and Leading Low Carbon Change," was grandly held in Deqing, Zhejiang. This conference is hosted by the Ionic Liquids Special Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, and jointly organized by Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Henan Normal University, Institute of Process Engineering, and Longzihu New Energy Laboratory.
Zhang Suojiang, academician of the CAS Member and chairman of the conference, delivered an opening speech. He pointed out that in the past two decades, the research on ionic liquids has been oriented towards the world and focused on the future, demonstrating a trend of vigorous iterative development and a high degree of cross integration with cutting-edge fields. He proposed that how to combine ionic liquids with life and health, so as to make contributions to human health and well-being, is the most important topic that ionic liquids should be extended and developed after the COVID-19 epidemic. Carbon neutrality will trigger a widespread and profound socio-economic transformation, and the energy system and industrial production system will undergo fundamental restructuring.Greenization, intelligence, and high-end development have become an inevitable trend of the times, and are also the fundamental direction of ionic liquid research. The advantages of ionic liquid green media should be utilized, large-scale transformative green technologies should be developed, and the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy system and industrial processes should be promoted. Artificial intelligence will overturn traditional industrial production and product manufacturing processes, and ionic liquids should accelerate their integration with artificial intelligence to build intelligent laboratories and factories. Electronic information chemicals, energy storage, hydrogen energy, and high-end materials are currently rapidly growing fields, and ionic liquids should be deeply integrated with material innovation. Demand-driven major innovation, interdisciplinary development giving rise to emerging industries, and "dual wheel" driven iterative innovation. He emphasized that technological innovation cannot be separated from academic exchange and collision of ideas. Therefore, the Ionic Liquids Special Committee has been committed to building academic exchange platforms, including organizing multi-level domestic and international conferences, setting up Youth Innovation Awards and Rookie Awards, compiling books on ionic liquids, and founding international journals such as GEE, GreenChE, and ICM. In the future, the Special Committee will continue to adhere to the core and leadership of ionic liquids, further strengthen communication and cooperation between academia and industry, jointly promote the transformation and development of ionic liquids, and create a new era of green processes.
Academician Zhang Suojiang delivered an Opening Speech
At this conference, more than 800 representatives from over 280 universities, research institutes, and enterprises across the country gathered together and presented over a hundred exciting reports, fully showcasing the latest research progress and achievements made by scientific and technological workers in the forefront of ionic liquid science and promoting the development of green processes in recent years. They deeply exchanged and discussed the opportunities, challenges, and future development directions faced in this field.
During the meeting, the third member representative conference of the Ionic Liquids Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society was also held, and a new chairman and deputy chairman of the committee were elected.
